EMBERS

In 2015 Thoresby Colliery, the last operating coal pit in England, closed its gates for the last time and brought ninety years of history to an end. With ambitious housing projects planned for the site, the residents of the historic mining village and former workers consider their past, present and future.

Embers is a historical documentary of Nottinghamshire’s last coal pit, and the future of lifelong miners in post-industrial Britain. I had the privilege of writing and researching for this project, as well as conducting interviews with former workers and their families.
